STRABISM
Strabismus (strabismus) is an eye disease that can be recognized by a person even without the help of a specialist. However, it is impossible to get rid of strabismus without the help of an ophthalmologist. Strabismus is characterized by deviation of two eyes or one eye from the central axis.
TYPES OF STRABISM
Concomitant strabismus: with concomitant strabismus, both eyes or one eye are deviated to the side. Basically, concomitant strabismus occurs in children and is inherited.
Paralytic strabismus: Paralytic strabismus develops due to damage to the extraocular muscles or disease of the optic nerve.
This type of strabismus can be:
divergent (exotropia) one eye is directed to the side (towards the temple);
convergent (esotropia) one eye is directed inward (towards the nose);
vertical (hypotropia and hypertropia) the eye is deviated downward, the eye is open upward.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF STRABISM
At the VOKA eye microsurgery center, the diagnosis and treatment of strabismus is carried out through a thorough and complete examination of the visual system using the latest equipment. It is important to understand that strabismus does not go away on its own, so you should consult an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. In order to choose a specific method of treating strabismus, it is necessary to take into account many factors: the causes of the disease, the age of the patient, the degree of strabismus. Therapeutic or surgical method is used to treat strabismus. Surgical intervention is performed to restore correct muscle balance and binocular vision. At the VOKA Eye Microsurgery Center, the method of adjustable sutures is used. After the operation, the patient returns home the same day. The duration of the rehabilitation period is about a week.
PREVENTION OF STRABISM
Prevention of strabismus is as follows:
try to follow the rules of visual stress;
treat ophthalmological diseases in a timely manner;
