    The VOKA Eye Microsurgery Center offers comfortable and interesting vision diagnostics for your children! Good vision for a child is one of the most important components for proper development and growth. After all, we all begin to explore the world, first of all, visually.

    Vision is one of the senses of perception, which is especially important for children, since a decrease in visual acuity to one degree or another hinders the full development of the child. The causes of eye dysfunction can be hereditary, congenital, acquired, and can also be observed in diseases of the cardiovascular, central nervous, endocrine and other body systems. Among the visual impairments in children, the following can be distinguished: myopia, farsightedness, astigmatism, amblyopia, strabismus, retinal lesions, ptosis (drooping of the upper eyelid), visual impairment as a result of injuries, inflammatory diseases, etc.

    • echoscopy “A” method;
    • autorefractokeratometry;
    • selection of points;
    • fundus lens.

    AMBLYOPIA

    Amblyopia is a decrease in vision that cannot be improved with lenses. The retina functions normally only when it is constantly irritated by light rays, which generates impulses that travel along the optic nerve to the brain. With amblyopia, this irritation is absent, therefore, information does not enter the brain and the person does not see anything with this eye, even if he is wearing glasses.

    CHILDHOOD MYOPIA (MYOPIA)

    Myopia (myopia) is a vision defect in which light rays converge not on the retina, but in front of it, forming a blurry image. Today, every third child has myopia. Childhood myopia is most often detected in early childhood until adolescence, during which it intensifies.

    CAUSES OF MYOPIA CAN BE:

    • lack of microelements and vitamins in food;
    • rapid growth of the child;
    • the development of myopia can be provoked by infectious diseases, as well as disorders of the musculoskeletal system (for example, scoliosis);
    • hereditary predisposition, for example, weakness and increased extensibility of the outer shell of the eyeball, sclera.

    CHILDREN'S STRABISM

    Strabismus is a violation of the position of the eyes, in which deviation of one or both eyes is detected when looking straight. Correct eye position depends on the coordinated work of all groups of extraocular muscles. If the eyes are located symmetrically, the images of objects fall on the central areas of the retina of the right and left eyes, and two images from both eyes merge into one binocular one. With strabismus, fusion does not occur, and, to eliminate double vision, the image of an object obtained by the squinting eye is suppressed by the central nervous system. Subsequently, this condition leads to a decrease in visual acuity and the development of amblyopia (“laziness”) of the eye.

    CAUSES OF STRABISM:

    • presence of myopia, farsightedness, high degree of astigmatism;
    • sharp decrease in visual acuity of one eye;
    • anomalies in the development and attachment of the extraocular muscles;
    • heredity, that is, the presence of strabismus in one of the parents;
    • head injuries; diseases of the central nervous system;
    • infections;
    • mental trauma, for example, severe fear and others.
