Removing foreign bodies from the nose

Foreign bodies of the nasal cavity are foreign objects that accidentally got there.
They can be living (insects) and non-living (beads, seeds, small parts, etc.).

    Main symptoms:

    • - congestion in one nostril
    • - frequent sneezing
    • - mucus streaked with blood from one nostril
    • - pain when pressing on the affected part of the nose

All foreign bodies must be removed.

Removal of foreign bodies depends on their location in the nose. First of all, the patient is asked to take air into his mouth, close the free nostril tightly with his fingers and exhale sharply through his nose. If this method is ineffective, the doctor removes the foreign body with a blunt hook or tweezers. In case of severe swelling of the nasal mucosa, a local anesthetic or vasoconstrictor drops are used. If a foreign body is localized in the upper part of the nose, the latter are removed under endoscopic control.

Under no circumstances remove foreign bodies from the ENT organs yourself! If you suspect them, contact a specialist.
